Eight nights is the easy South Pacific run out of Brisbane: two days at sea to settle in, then Port Vila for the markets and the Mele cascades, Mystery Island for a day on an uninhabited strip of reef and sand, and Nouméa for its French cafes and the beach at Anse Vata. The ship does as much work as the ports. Quantum of the Seas carries the North Star, a glass capsule that lifts you 90 metres above the water, RipCord by iFly for indoor skydiving, the FlowRider surf simulator, and bumper cars and roller skating in the SeaPlex, all included. Fares are cruise-only, so drinks packages, Wi-Fi, specialty restaurants and shore tours are extra; gratuities are already included on sailings sold in Australia.
