About MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises is the Geneva-based, family-owned Italian-Swiss line that has grown into the world’s third largest cruise company on big, contemporary ships. Fares come in three tiers, Bella, Fantastica and Aurea, and the top tier is really its own ship: the MSC Yacht Club, a suite enclave with a private restaurant, lounge, pool and 24-hour butler service. It suits families, couples and groups who want a lively ship with plenty of dining and entertainment, at a fare that undercuts the premium lines.

MSC has no ship based in Australia, so most Australians fly to join one: Barcelona or Genoa for the Mediterranean, Kiel or Copenhagen for the Norwegian fjords, and a Caribbean season that moves between Miami and the French Antilles each winter. The one exception is MSC Magnifica’s 121-night World Cruise, which overnights in Hobart and Sydney in early 2027 and can be booked in shorter segments, including one that starts in Sydney. We quote every fare in AUD before you book, whichever ship you choose.

The four ships in this guide show the range. MSC World Asia, the newest flagship, debuts in the Mediterranean in December 2026 with more than 40 bars and restaurants. MSC World Europa carries the same World Class scale between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. MSC Euribia specialises in the Norwegian fjords, and MSC Magnifica, refitted in December 2025 with an MSC Yacht Club, a steakhouse and a sushi bar, is the ship that reaches Australia on her World Cruise.

MSC’s newest flagship arrives in the Mediterranean in December 2026 with more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, including the new Pan-Asian Street Bar, Coral Cove Bar and Sky Box Bar. The World Promenade runs the length of the ship under a giant dragon sculpture, with the longest dry slide at sea and The Harbour, an outdoor deck with an over-water swing 50 metres above the sea. Seven-night cruises call at Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Rome, Messina and Valletta.

MSC’s first World Class ship and its first powered by liquefied natural gas, World Europa spends summer in the Mediterranean from Barcelona and Genoa, then moves to the Southern Caribbean and French Antilles for winter 2026 to 27, replacing MSC Seaview. Staterooms include the innovative Infinite Ocean View category, and suite guests get their own restaurant, lounge and pool in the MSC Yacht Club. She carries 6,762 guests across 2,626 cabins.

MSC Euribia

The fifth and final Meraviglia Class ship, Euribia sails Norway’s fjords each summer from Kiel and Copenhagen, calling at Geiranger, Flåm and other scenic ports. Onboard there are ten dining venues, 21 bars and lounges, the reimagined Carousel Lounge with a nineteen-piece Big Band at Sea, and the digital Helios Wine Bar. Five pools and a family area of about 700 square metres round out a ship built for a full family holiday.

MSC Magnifica

In service since 2010, Magnifica finished a major refit in December 2025 that added an MSC Yacht Club with 63 suites, the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, Kaito Sushi Bar and a bigger Aurea Spa. From January 2027 she sails the 121-night MSC World Cruise, the first to carry the Yacht Club, with overnight stays in Hobart and Sydney. Shorter segments are available, including one that starts in Sydney.

MSC has no ship based in Australia. Most Australians fly to join a ship in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean or Northern Europe. The one exception is MSC Magnifica’s 121-night World Cruise, which overnights in Hobart and Sydney in early 2027 and can be booked in shorter segments, including one that begins in Sydney. What is included in an MSC Cruises fare?

Your cabin, meals in the main dining rooms and buffet, entertainment, the pools and most bars and lounges. MSC prices fares in three tiers: Bella (the base fare), Fantastica (choice of cabin location and dining time) and Aurea (spa access and priority services). Specialty restaurants, drinks packages, Wi-Fi, gratuities and shore excursions are extra unless your fare or Yacht Club suite includes them.

Which MSC ship should I choose?

MSC World Asia, arriving in the Mediterranean from December 2026, is the newest and largest, with more than 40 bars and restaurants. MSC World Europa offers the same World Class scale with a Caribbean season each winter. MSC Euribia suits the Norwegian fjords. MSC Magnifica is smaller and more traditional, recently refitted, and the only one that reaches Australia, on her World Cruise.

Who does MSC Cruises suit?

Families, couples and groups who want a big, contemporary ship with plenty of restaurants, entertainment and a kids’ club, at a fare below the premium lines. The MSC Yacht Club adds a private, adults-friendly suite enclave within the same ship for guests who want more quiet and service without booking a small ship.

What are Bella, Fantastica and Aurea?

MSC’s three fare experiences. Bella is the standard fare. Fantastica adds a choice of cabin location, dining time and a welcome gift. Aurea adds access to the MSC Aurea Spa’s thermal area, priority embarkation and reserved seating at shows. They apply to the same cabin categories, so you are paying for service and access rather than a different cabin.

When is the best time to sail MSC Cruises?

European summer (June to September) for the Mediterranean and the Norwegian fjords; the Northern Hemisphere winter (November to April) for the Caribbean, when MSC World Europa moves there. MSC Magnifica’s World Cruise departs Civitavecchia in January 2027 and reaches Sydney and Hobart around March, our own summer, if you would rather join it from home.
