Fourteen nights is the right length for the South Pacific. From Sydney you’ll call first at Nouméa, then cross to Fiji for two full days: Suva, the capital, with its market and colonial waterfront, and Lautoka, gateway to the Mamanuca islands, both with the ship in port until late evening. From there it’s back through Vanuatu and the Loyalty Islands, tendering ashore at Mystery Island, Lifou and Port Vila, before three quiet days at sea home. Departing 24 March, at the end of the wet season when the water is warmest and the crowds have gone.
