Explorer carries 746 guests across ten decks, small enough that the crew and officers learn your name. Dining runs to five included restaurants: the main Compass Rose, French restaurant Chartreuse, the Prime 7 steakhouse, Pan-Asian Pacific Rim and Sette Mari’s Italian menu at La Veranda, plus a Culinary Arts Kitchen for a hands-on class. Every suite has its own balcony, Penthouse Suite and higher add butler service, and the bow-facing Regent Suite is the largest suite at sea.

Regent runs a Club Mariner youth programme for ages 5 to 17 on select summer and holiday sailings, but there is no permanent kids’ club, waterslides or arcade, so it suits older, independent teenagers better than young children.
Resort style clothing, including shorts and jeans, is fine in the daytime. After 6pm the choice is yours: Elegant Casual (dresses, skirts, collared shirts, tidy denim) or a more formal look with gowns and dinner jackets. Regent leaves it up to guests each evening rather than setting fixed formal nights, and bathing suits are only appropriate at the Pool Bar and Grill.
