About Princess Cruises

Princess is the line Australians have cruised with longest, and it shows: the ships are calm, comfortable and unfussy, the Piazza at the heart of each one hums from morning coffee to late cocktails, and Movies Under the Stars on the pool deck is still the best way to spend a sea night. It sits a notch above the mass-market lines on food and service without the price of the luxury ones.

Grand Princess sails from Brisbane and Sydney year-round as the line’s first year-round Australian ship. Royal Princess is back in Sydney for the summer, and Crown Princess sails from Sydney until early November 2026. For 2027 to 28 Sapphire Princess joins them, based in Perth (Fremantle). Between them: 62 departures and 42 itineraries, from three night coastal tasters to Queensland, Tasmania, New Zealand, the South Pacific, round-Australia voyages and a 79 night Circle Pacific in June 2027.

Every guest wears an Ocean Medallion, which opens your cabin door, finds your travelling companions and lets you order a drink to wherever you are sitting. Fares are cruise-only by default; the Princess Plus and Premier packages add drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities and casual dining in one price, which is usually the better deal for anyone who drinks or wants to stay connected.

Where does Princess Cruises sail from in Australia?

Sydney and Brisbane are the main homeports. Grand Princess sails from Brisbane and Sydney year-round, Royal Princess from Sydney each summer, and Crown Princess from Sydney until early November 2026, with selected departures from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. For 2027 to 28, Sapphire Princess is based in Perth (Fremantle). Itineraries cover Queensland, Tasmania, New Zealand, the South Pacific and round-Australia voyages, plus a 79 night Circle Pacific in June 2027.

What is included in a Princess fare?

Your cabin, all meals in the main dining room, the World Fresh Marketplace buffet and the International Café, room service, the shows, Movies Under the Stars, the pools and the kids’ clubs. Gratuities are included in fares sold in Australia. Drinks beyond water, tea and basic coffee, Wi-Fi, specialty and casual restaurants, the spa, the Sanctuary and shore tours are extra.

What are Princess Plus and Princess Premier?

Bundles added to the fare. Princess Plus covers a drinks package, Wi-Fi, gratuities, two casual dining meals and a few extras; Premier adds premium drinks, unlimited casual and specialty dining, photos and more. If you drink or want to stay online, Plus usually costs less than paying as you go. We price both for you.

What is MedallionClass?

Every guest wears a small Ocean Medallion instead of a key card. It opens your cabin as you approach, lets crew greet you by name, finds your travelling companions on the ship and lets you order food and drinks to wherever you are sitting through the app.

Crown, Royal or Grand Princess, which should I choose?

Royal is the newest and largest, with the SeaWalk, the Enclave thermal suite and the most restaurants; choose it if the ship matters. Crown is the classic mid-size Princess ship with almost 900 balconies, ideal for New Zealand and South Pacific loops. Grand is the smallest and sails from Brisbane as well as Sydney, and it runs the long round-Australia and Circle Pacific voyages.

Is Princess good for families?

Good for families with younger children and for multi-generation groups: Camp Discovery runs a free daily programme for ages 3 to 17, cabins sleep up to four and mini-suites have a sofa bed. There are no waterslides or big-ship attractions, so teenagers who want thrills will prefer Royal Caribbean.
