Norway's vibrant capital city is your gateway to the High Arctic. Fly north to Longyearbyen, the main settlement on Svalbard, where an overnight stay in a local hotel allows you to acclimatise to the extraordinary Arctic light of early summer and begin exploring this frontier community.

Explore the frontier spirit of Longyearbyen, the world's northernmost settlement of significant size. This unique community, once a coal-mining hub, is now home to researchers, adventurers, and those drawn by the wild Arctic landscape. After an included excursion, board the MS Spitsbergen this afternoon and set sail into the High Arctic.

Hornsund, the southernmost fjord in Svalbard, is one of the most dramatically scenic in the archipelago. Its vast glacier system, including the mighty Hornbreen, calves directly into the fjord. Zodiac cruise among the ice floes and look for polar bears, Arctic foxes, and reindeer on the rocky shoreline.

Svalbard's second largest fjord is rich in wildlife and layers of pioneer history. The vast wilderness of Northwest Spitsbergen National Park is prime polar bear territory. Cruise along the dramatic bird cliffs at Alkefjellet, where thousands of Brünnich's guillemots nest on basalt columns, and keep a careful watch from the deck for the Arctic's iconic white apex predator.
