The ship leaves Auckland in the evening and wakes up in the Bay of Islands, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840, then Tauranga, for Rotorua’s geothermal valleys. After a day at sea the run down the country begins: Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin on three consecutive days, each from seven in the morning. The last port day is spent in Fiordland, Dusky Sound in the morning, Doubtful Sound around midday and Milford Sound in the early evening light, and then two days at sea let it all settle before an early arrival in Sydney on 1 December.
