Early December brings the long days of the New Zealand summer, with the light lasting until well after nine at night in the south. Two days out of Sydney, Celebrity Edge spends a day in Fiordland, Milford, Doubtful and Dusky Sounds one after another, best seen from the Magic Carpet or your own veranda. Dunedin follows, for the Otago Peninsula and its albatross colony, then Christchurch, for the Botanic Gardens and a punt on the Avon. After a day at sea come Tauranga for Rotorua or the Hobbiton film set, a full day in Auckland for the ferry to Waiheke Island, and the Bay of Islands, before two days at sea home to Sydney on 13 December.
