Two weeks from Sydney to Auckland that take in Tasmania as well as both islands of New Zealand. A day among the convict ruins at Port Arthur and another in Hobart, then across the Tasman for a day of scenic cruising in Fiordland. Up the east coast from there: Wellington and Te Papa, Picton in the Marlborough Sounds, art deco Napier, Tauranga for Rotorua, and the Bay of Islands before you arrive in Auckland early on day fifteen. Only five sea days in fourteen nights makes it a busy, port-rich trip, and Royal Princess suits it: the largest Princess ship in Australia this summer, with Crown Grill, Sabatini’s and Alfredo’s, Princess Live! and the Enclave thermal suite for the days at sea.

Your questions, answered

Is this a one-way cruise?

Yes. Royal Princess leaves Sydney at 4 pm on Saturday 20 February 2027 and arrives in Auckland early on Saturday 6 March: 14 nights, 15 days. Flights are not included, so you book your own flight home from Auckland.

How many sea days and ports are there?

Five days at sea, seven ports where you can go ashore before you finish in Auckland (Port Arthur, Hobart, Wellington, Picton, Napier, Tauranga and the Bay of Islands), and a day of scenic cruising in Fiordland.

Are any of the ports tender ports?

Port Arthur and the Bay of Islands. The ship anchors offshore and small boats take you in, so those landings depend on the weather on the day.

Do I need a visa for New Zealand?

Australian citizens do not. Most other passport holders need an NZeTA, which you apply for online before you sail. Check Smartraveller and your passport before you go; we go through it with you when you book.

What is included in the fare?

Your cabin, meals in the main dining room, World Fresh Marketplace and the International Café, the shows, Princess Live!, the pools and Movies Under the Stars, and gratuities, which are included in fares sold in Australia. Drinks packages, Wi-Fi, specialty restaurants, the Enclave and shore tours cost extra.

How much is Princess Plus on this cruise?

From A$5,805 per person in an Balcony cabin, about A$79 a day more than the cruise fare. Princess Plus adds a drinks package, Wi-Fi and two casual dining meals, and we can quote Princess Premier as well.

Which cabin is best for this itinerary?

A balcony: on this sailing it is from A$4,699 per person against A$3,999 for an Interior, and it gives you your own view of Fiordland and the Marlborough Sounds on the way into Picton.
