This is the classic way across the Pacific. Celebrity Edge leaves Honolulu in the evening, and after five days at sea arrives in Pago Pago in American Samoa, one of the deepest natural harbours in the South Pacific. Overnight the ship crosses the International Date Line, so the next calendar day never happens, and wakes up off Apia, where Robert Louis Stevenson spent his last years at Vailima. Fiji follows with two long days, Suva, the capital, until eight at night and Lautoka on the sugar-cane coast of Viti Levu, then Mystery Island, an uninhabited cay of white sand in southern Vanuatu, and Nouméa, with its French bakeries and lagoon beaches. Two days at sea finish the crossing in Sydney Harbour on the morning of 28 October.

Honolulu and Pago Pago are US ports, so every guest needs to meet US entry requirements before sailing; most Australians travel on an ESTA.
