Eight nights, three cities and a day at sea after each, so there is time to rest between the cellar doors. Hobart comes first, for MONA and the Coal River Valley vineyards a short drive from the city. Adelaide follows with a long day alongside, until eight in the evening: time for the Barossa, the Adelaide Hills or McLaren Vale, or for Hahndorf, the old German village in the hills. Then Melbourne, for the Yarra Valley, the laneways or the Queen Victoria Market, before a last day at sea home to Sydney on 10 November. In early November the vines are in fresh leaf and the evenings are long.
