April suits this one best. The vintage is finishing across the southern wine regions, the vines are turning gold and the cellar doors are at their busiest. Adelaide is a twelve hour day, enough for the Barossa, the Adelaide Hills or McLaren Vale with a long lunch, and Melbourne gives you ten hours for the Yarra Valley or the Mornington Peninsula. Hobart comes first, nine hours for the Coal River Valley cellar doors or kunanyi / Mount Wellington, and Kangaroo Island is a tender day with eleven hours ashore for Seal Bay, the Remarkable Rocks and one of the island’s small producers. Four days at sea sit between the ports, on Celebrity Edge with the Magic Carpet moving up the side of the ship and the Rooftop Garden above, home to Sydney on 16 April.
